Every year, the Ohio Land Bank Association (OLBA) recognizes and celebrates the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact in their community. Only OLBA members in good standing, which includes staff, board, and projects, may be nominated, except in the case of the Partner of the Year and the Jim Rokakis Champion for Change Award. Robin Darden Thomas Pillar of Service Award
The Robin Darden Thomas Pillar of Service award goes to an individual who strengthened their community with a significant contribution of time, actions, talent, and dedication through their work as an Ohio land bank employee or board member. Nominees for the award must:
- Have been an employee and/or board member of an Ohio county land bank during the period for which they are nominated.
- Demonstrated strong dedication to social responsibility with a focus on strengthening neighborhoods and communities;
- Have made significant contributions of time, actions and talent to their organizations, recognizable by their peers and/or the community that have resulted in meaningful, positive and lasting impacts;
- Have served as a role model for compassion and service through their efforts to make their community a better place.
Jim Rokakis Champion for Change Award
The Jim Rokakis Champion for Change award goes to an individual or organization whose leadership has significantly and positively impacted the work of Ohio land banks and supported a mission of strengthening Ohio communities. Nominees for the award must:
- Not have been employed by or served on the Board of an Ohio county land bank during the period for which they were nominated;
- Demonstrated a solid commitment to building stronger neighborhoods and communities;
- Made a meaningful and demonstratable contribution to support the work of Ohio land banks and communities;
- Have consistently demonstrated and inspired excellent leadership, mentorship, collaboration, and consensus-building initiative and/or service to effect positive change at the community level.
Project of the Year Award
The OLBA Project of the Year Award is presented to an organization that has executed an outstanding land bank project, showcasing innovation, impact, and dedication to the mission and vision of Ohio’s land banks. Through their project, nominees should exemplify the potential and power of land banking initiatives, setting a benchmark for future endeavors in Ohio. Nominees for the award must:
- Have completed a land bank project in Ohio during the period for which they are nominated.
- Demonstrated exceptional innovation and creativity in the planning, execution, and results of the project.
- Made a significant positive impact on the community, leading to measurable improvements or benefits.
- Fostered collaboration and partnership, bringing together diverse stakeholders for the success of the project
Partners of the Year Award
The OLBA Partner of the Year Award is bestowed upon an organization that has exemplified outstanding partnership and collaboration with an Ohio county land bank. This award recognizes the invaluable contributions of partners who amplify the impact of land bank initiatives through shared resources, expertise, and vision. Nominees for the award must:
- Have actively collaborated with and OLBA member organization during the period for which they are nominated.
- Demonstrated a deep commitment to the shared goals and objectives of the partnership.
- Contributed significantly, whether through resources, knowledge, or other means, to the success of a land bank.
- Fostered a spirit of cooperation, ensuring open communication and mutual respect in all collaborative efforts.
- Have a track record of going above and beyond in their partnership role, consistently adding value and driving positive outcomes for the community
